The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has agreed to hear the plea of the association of real estate developers in Goa, seeking permission to carry out development activities on private forests in the state.
The association has argued that the state government has not declared these forests as protected areas, and hence, they can be used for development purposes.
However, Goa Foundation has opposed the move, stating that private forests are important ecological zones that need to be conserved.
The final decision is still pending and shall be taken once the facts submitted by both parties are thoroughly examined.
